Northfield Mountain's trails are a perfect place to hike. On this winter ramble we'll explore animal tracks, porcupine signs, and an abandoned 19th century stone quarry. Enjoy an afternoon of camaraderie and outdoor exercise while learning about natural history seasonal highlights. This moderately strenuous hike is approximately 1½ miles in length with an elevation gain of 300 feet. Bring water, snacks, wear wind pants or gaiters and dress in warm layers that can be shed as we get moving. Warm, waterproof footwear is essential. All are required to wear micro-spikes due to the icy conditions on the trails. We do rent micro-spikes for $5. You are also welcome to bring your own snowshoes with cleats.
