Pothole Pictures film - The Band's Visit
About an Egyptian police band heading to Israel who get lost in the wrong town. Stranded in the desert, they slowly begin to socialize with the locals & a long night of guarded revelations, shared isolation, & tentative tenderness unfolds. A quiet sympathetic story about the loneliness that surrounds us, done with sensitivity, humor & sweetness – but, more than that, a glimpse of 2 “enemies” – Arabs & Israelis – as ordinary people with ordinary hopes, lives, & disappointments. In Hebrew w/English subtitles. Sasson Gabai, Ronit Elkabetz. Dir. Eran Kolirin. 2007. Color. PG-13. 87 min. Music before the Movie - Fri. 7 pm - Sat. 7:30 pm – Wayne Smith – solo cello.
