Pothole Pictures - Dawson City: Frozen Time
Director Bill Morrison will be at Friday showing to discuss the film. Dawson City, Alaska was a gold rush town that reached its peak in the 1890s. In 1978, a different kind of treasure was found buried in Dawson City: hundreds of silent films sent to entertain the prospectors and abandoned there. Director Bill Morrison turned the lost films into a wonderful documentary about the history of the city, the frontier and the films themselves. The New York Times called Dawson City “an instantaneously recognizable masterpiece.” 2016. Black and White/Color. 120 minutes. Unrated. Music before the Movie: Friday @ 7:00: Orlen, Gabriel & Avery - Americana trio, guitar, dobro & voices; Saturday @ 6:30: Special 1-hour concert with Miro Sprague – dynamic jazz piano
