Jazz fusion artists the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra
Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center is proud to present jazz fusion group the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, in concert on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10 p.m. (doors open at 9 p.m.). The concert will be held at Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center, 289 Main St., Greenfield, MA. Tickets are $12 in advance and available at http://hawksandreed.com (tickets at the door are $14). Local band Dave Noonan's Green Island will also perform. Multi-instrumentalist and composer Jonathan Scales is likely the most innovative steel drummer on the planet. He has a stunning, virtuosic technique, but it is his mesmerizing compositions and tasteful, avant-garde improvisation that set him apart from the pack. The blog Pan On The Net describes Scales as having “a Thelonius Monk-like attitude with a Mozart creativity.” The Jonathan Scales Fourchestra's lineup showcases bass wizard MonoNeon (Prince), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Snarky Puppy) and percussionist Weedie Braimah (The Nth Power). The Fourchestra’s album Mixtape Symphony reached #6 on the iTunes Jazz charts. Dave Noonan's Green Island is a collective of some of the Pioneer Valley's best musicians. The band plays a wide variety of music and styles from Coltrane to Ranglin, Marley to Marvin, ballads to Banghra. Organized by Dave Noonan, Green Island is dedicated to showcasing the wonderful talents of its members and rotating special guests as well as rocking the dance floor.
