Photographer Peter Alan Monroe turns his lens on an iconic architectural element of our area. It’s a simple idea and Monroe handles it straight-forwardly, photographing the houses dead-on, using color negative film in a 4x5 camera. But Monroe’s project is quietly complex. It asks us to stop and really study these often plain, sometimes neglected houses, which in our day-to-day lives we might drive right by. There’s something worth seeing here, Monroe insists.
