Spooky First Friday Celebrations in Downtown Turners Falls! The streets of downtown Turners Falls welcome autumn with the Bug Museum Parade and Great Ghouls Night Market on Friday October 3rd from 5-9 PM. Events are free and part of First Friday Turners Falls, a monthly event sponsored by the local business community. Created during a three-week paper mâché workshop at the Brick House, large scale bug puppets step-off at 6pm from Peskeompskut Park, Avenue A and Seventh Street, alongside the Skeleton Crew trolls and revelers from the Montague Shakespeare Festival. The parade route continues along Avenue A to the Great Ghouls Night Market, 147 Second St at Unity Park where spooky handmade goods, vintage clothing, haunted crafts, delicious foods, and more will be set up from 5-9pm: Stella Vintage Nurselog Creations Buckingham Rabbits Vintage Stormheart Studios LLC Craft Knot Art Riot & Rex/BEAM Attendees can take part in a kazoo adoption ceremony at 6:30 PM followed by the premiere of an original puppet musical, “How the Moth Fell in Love with the Light.” At 7:15pm Montague Shakespeare Players will premiere “Paper Crown”, a new 20-minute work built entirely from Shakespeare’s characters and dialogue wrapped in music, costumes, and ghostly revelry including Richard III, Macbeth, and a haunted company of witches, Titus’ blood and Joan of Arc at the flames. The Bug Museum Parade, Great Ghouls Night Market, and Paper Crown are part of First Friday Tuners Falls. Shops open late with special deals throughout downtown.
