Collage: The Art of Assemblage
Saturday, 9/29, 12:00-5:00 pm. This course will explore the versatile art form known as collage. Through slide presentations and discussions, students will learn the history of collage, and be exposed by the contemporary uses of collage and assemblage. After understanding the context of collage, students will learn the easy-to-use tools, materials, and techniques of collage through group and individual demonstrations. Students will create experimental, expressive, one-of-a-kind artworks based from observation by attaching pieces of paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera to a supporting substrate. Possibilities are endless in this class! No prerequisites required. Suitable for all Levels. Material List: • Found Image Material/Scavenged Ephemera (Old books, newspaper, editorial, old maps, photographs, pieces of ‘failed’ personal artwork, wrapping paper, old wall paper, etc. ) • X-Acto Knife/Scissors • I highly recommend Liquitex Matte Medium or a matte gel medium but Modge Podge or glue can work. • Brushes • Substrate of your choice: I recommend a heavy-duty paper like watercolor paper, but you could also choose to work on panel or stretched canvas http://greenfieldcc.3dcartstores.com/Collage-The-Art-of-Assemblage_p_1501.html
