Gospel Brunch featuring The Mothership Trio w/ Wanda Houston
Join us for a brunch buffet and live music on Sunday, March 24, as we celebrate the influence and inspiration of gospel choirs on traditional and contemporary, soulful jazz music. Jazz on the Mothership is a trio comprised of local jazz legends Claire Arenius (drums), Eugene Uman (piano) and Wayne Roberts (bass). They played a weekly jazz series throughout the Valley and are reuniting for this special event. Joining them is renowned vocalist Wanda Houston, whose origins in the Chicago gospel choir that her mother directed set the tone for her long and illustrious career. She has performed on Broadway stages, in films, recordings and television. She has worked in varying capacities with Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, John Tuturro, Eddie Izzard, Natalie Cole, Eartha Kitt, Patti LaBelle and Sam Harris on the stages of Pasadena Playhouse, Universal Studios, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall.
