Fundamentals of Electricity
W, 9/5-12/19 (no class 11/21), 5:00-7:50 pm. An introduction to electricity with an emphasis on sustainable energy applications. Topics include DC/AC circuit operations, electrical distribution systems, common semiconductor devices, the National Electrical Code , electrical safety, and common electrical methods and techniques. Prerequisite: MAT 105, COL 090, ENG 090 or satisfactory placement test scores. Please be aware that the instructor is assuming your level of math is as stated in the prerequisites. Math requirements are described below: MAT 090: Non-Credit students must have proficiency in mathematical operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percents. MAT 105: Non-Credit students must have proficiency in mathematical operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percents. They must also have proficiency in basic algebraic concepts of variable, negative numbers, numeric and algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in one variable, integer exponents and graphing. Credit-free students may take the college placement test at no cost to help determine their math level.
