DESCRIPTION:Stoneleigh-Burnham School will host ?Paintings: Twenty Years\, 1996-2016? by Greenfield artist Robert Moorhead. The exhibition spans 20 years of work executed while Moorhead was an instructor at Deerfield Academy and during his recent retirement to Greenfield. Originally from Western Pennsylvania\, in 1976\, Moorhead joined the faculty at Deerfield Academy where he taught architecture\, calligraphy\, and design for almost 40 years. Before coming to Deerfield\, Moorhead taught design\, environmental art\, and sculpture at Union College in Schenectady\, New York. Educated at Carnegie-Mellon University\, he earned his MFA in design in 1969\, and then worked as a transportation designer for the Rensselaer Research Corporation in Troy\, New York.\n\nHis ?graphic-like? work includes paintings based on calligraphic forms\, texts\, symbols\, geometrical shapes\, and grids. More recent work explores elements of landscape. All of Moorhead?s work invites the viewer to experience a non-verbal encounter.
