SUMMARY:Fabulous February Fringe Festival
DESCRIPTION:This mini-film festival seeks to promote about two hours of short films WRITTEN and/or DIRECTED BY WOMEN. The theme of the fringe is LOVE and/or HOPE\; films that explore the theme are encouraged to apply. A question and answer segment after the screenings available for all filmmakers who can attend the event.\n\nAlso include is the Shad Ladder Radio Hour\, a live radio show.\nKicking off Saturday\, February 3\, the Ashfield FilmFest and Elmer's will host a filmmaking workshop and audience favorite films from the first women's film festival. The workshop will begin at 3pm at Elmer's\, followed by an optional dinner and then the films will be shown about 7pm. The workshop will be presented by Jon Huberth\, an actor\, producer and director of film and video. A graduate of Amherst College and the Yale Drama School\, Jon has been an Assistant Professor of Drama at Manhattanville College\, and has directed master classes at the National Shakespeare Conservatory and scores of plays from off- Broadway to many regional theaters. Jon has also produced and directed over 200 videos for colleges and non-profits. Jon will talk about how to create a video with a story\, concept and purpose to effectively reach the audience you want to reach with the message you want to tell. He will show three short videos and describe how each was conceived and executed. Come listen and learn and then make a film for the Ashfield FilmFest!\n\n \n\nThe workshop and films are free\, though the Ashfield FilmFest would greatly appreciate donations to support our efforts and to help us purchase a projector. The selections this year are terrific\, and it'll be a fun night!  $5 gets you in the door at the   Rated PG.\n\n \n\nOn Saturday\, we'll start the day with Piti Theatre's Sammy and the Grand Buffet  at 2pm at the Buckland Shelburne Community Center.  Jonathan Mirin stars as Sammy. an American in Paris woken up by a phone call from his boss. It's time to get things ready for the Grand Buffet. He does his best to follow the "to do" list but . . . it's not easy being Sammy. Forty five magic\, music and accident-filled minutes later\, the Grand Buffet may or may not be served. Jason Sullivan-Flynn\, Children's Librarian\, Wheeler Memorial Library describes it as.  ". . . a funny and endearing fish out of water story that audiences of all ages are sure to enjoy."  This is a free performance for all ages. Donations accepted to benefit West County Arts & Culture.  \n\n \n\nTo round out the Festival\, Saturday evening will bring new work by area artists including  the Shad Ladder Radio Hour!  Shad Ladder had its first performance at the Fringe last year and has continued to perform new shows every month.  In June\, the Shad moved to The Shea\, but we've lured them back for this special anniversary performance.
