TITLE:   Positive Parenting – Franklin County/North Quabbin Coordinator
DEPARTMENT:   Positive Parenting Program/Family Support Department
The United Arc provides direct services and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.  Positive Parenting services are part of the Family Support Department.  Family Support services empower families and enhance their capacity to care for a family member with disabilities.  Positive Parenting services have a specific focus on families headed by one or more parents with an intellectual, learning or other functional disability.  Positive Parenting services enhance the capacity of parents so that they may successfully raise their children, maintain stable homes and keep their families intact or maintain a healthy relationship with a child that lives outside of the home of their birth parents.  Adjunct services support other members of the family impacted by the limitations of a caregiver, (grandparents and transition-age youth). Positive Parenting Services include individualized support through home visiting and skills training, transitional supported living, parent education and support groups, supervised visitation, transition to adulthood, grandparent support, volunteer mentoring and consultation to other agencies regarding effective means of supporting parents with disabilities.   
Reports to the Program Manager of Positive Parenting and oversees parent educators/supervised visitation staff and other program staff as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in human services/social work or related fields; Social Work license preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience within human services or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and delegate tasks to staff or volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population including people with intellectual or learning disabilities and persons with low or poverty level incomes.
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner to other human service agencies, funders and the community.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Acceptable driving record, valid driver’s license and access to an automobile.
  • Acceptable CORI and fingerprint check required.
