Habibi plays “a blend of psychedelic rock and sixties girl group harmonies.” The brainchild of Detroit natives, Rahill Jamalifard and Lenny Lynch, the all girl, Brooklyn based project formed in 2011. Growing up with the harmonious sounds of Motown and the punk attitudes of Quatro and Iggy, their music invokes the same simplicity and fiery spirit. Jamalifard’s Persian ancestry and Lynch’s love of Middle Eastern culture are evident in the band’s name (habibi means “my love” in Arabic), their mystical lyrics and their Eastern-tinged melodies. ZoKi is a folk-rock trio from Western Mass whose multi-talented members are adept songwriters and vocalists, as well as versatile instrumentalists. They play covers and originals, which can be moving, as well as funny and quirky. ZoKi features strong vocal harmonies and stop-you-in-your-tracks guitar solos. Nanny is a punk/pop/indie/rock band from Northampton, MA.
