100th Annual Heath Fair
Three days of food, fun, demonstrations, kids games, music and many attractions.
Eight special events have been added to celebrate our Centennial year:
Saturday: Goat Parade, Zucchini Races (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hgL8y2isTQ)
Sunday: Free Ice Cream Social, Circus Arts Performance, Firefighters Muster, Oxen Parade, Roaming Barbershop Quartet
OTHER EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
Friday night: Fireworks, Square Dancing, Ham and Bean Supper, Tractor Pull and Live Music.
Saturday: Horse Pull, Truck Pull, Dog Herding Demonstration, Live Music, Classic midway full of local arts & crafts, vendors, food stands, Heath Fire Dept BBQ, and our 6th Nationally Sanctioned Dairy Goat Show.
Sunday: Blueberry Pancake Breakfast, Heath Fire Dept BBQ, Oxen Pull, Live Music, the Heath Fair Parade and a Classic Car Display.
Agriculture: Cows, sheep, poultry, and rabbits are displayed and judged just as they were 100 years ago.
Ox and horse draws, truck pull, an antique tractor pull and the kids’ garden tractor pull will test the mettle of animals, machines, and men & women of all ages. Live demonstrations include sheep shearing and herd dog events.
The Display Hall, exhibiting local garden, crafts and art entries, is open all three days, starting at 5PM Friday.
The Speakers’ Tent will feature eight different presentations.
The Agricultural Tent is where you can relive our agricultural past. Typical opportunities have included making and writing with a quill pen, shelling corn with an antique shelling machine and making butter or ice cream the old fashioned way, tasting heirloom tomatoes and peppers and making your own rope at the antique rope winder.
American Goat Association Sanctioned Dairy Goat Show: On Saturday at 10:30 AM., eight different breeds from across New England will be competing. Observers can see these beautiful animals up close and hear the judge’s description of why they place one goat before another.
Fun for Kids: The animal barns and a petting farm are open throughout the fair. On Sunday afternoon, kids’ games are led by local parents, with classic games like “tug of war”, “three-legged races” and a hay bale maze.
Misc: Fireworks, Donald Bisbee’s free horse-drawn wagon rides, parade with a classic car cruise, great local food, including the famous Heath Firefighters’ chicken barbecue are also sure to delight and satisfy young and old.
